2024: Sponsored, H.R. 7833, the Nuclear Family Priority Act, to end chain migration 

Rep. Ogles cosponsored H.R. 7833, the Nuclear Family Priority Act, introduced by Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.). The legislation would end family chain migration by eliminating the adult siblings of U.S. citizens and adult children of U.S. citizens categories. The bill would also eliminate green cards for parents of U.S. citizens, but still allow parents to live in the country with renewable visas. The bill would reduce legal immigration by more than 300,000 per year and was a recommendation of the Barbara Jordan Commission.

The SAFE Act (by Mike Collins, GA) would eliminated the visa lottery, which raffles off 55,000 green cards each year without regard to employment skills or family ties.

2023: Sponsored H.R. 1100 to end the Visa Lottery
Rep. Ogles sponsored H.R. 1100, the SAFE for America Act, introduced by Rep. Bill Posey (R-Fla.). The legislation would end the visa lottery that issues 55,000 green cards each year through a random lottery. Green cards are awarded with little regard to a recipient's educational attainment or workforce skills. Ending the program was a recommendation of the last bipartisan Congressional immigration commission chaired by Barbara Jordan.

The Fairness for High-Skilled Americans Act (by Paul Gosar, R-AZ) would end the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program that  provides incentives for employers to hire foreign students from U.S. colleges for up to 36 months instead of American graduates.

The Make the Migrant Protection Protocols Mandatory Act (by Roger Williams, R-TX) mandates the return of aliens arriving from a contiguous country pending their proceedings.

The No Asylum for Criminals Act (by Mark Harris, R-NC) would block criminal aliens from qualifying for asylum.

The RULES Act (by Anna Paulina Luna, R-FL) requires asylum applications be lodged at ports of entry and requires applicants to be detained until their cases are heard.

The REMAIN in Mexico Act (by Brandon Gill, R-TX) restores the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP or Remain in Mexico) policy as it was created by the Trump Administration. Bill requires technical amendments.

Rep. Ogles cosponsored H.R. 7594, the Build the Wall and Deport Them All Act, introduced by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.). This legislation would end most forms of asylum fraud by codifying former President Trump's immigration Executive Orders.

2023: Sponsored H.R. 597 to close several asylum loopholes
Rep. Ogles sponsored H.R. 597, the Stop the Cartels Act, introduced by Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio). The legislation would fix the current credible fear standards for asylum and prevent felons, most inadmissible aliens, previous deportees, and habitual residents of Central America, where there are refugee processing centers, from asylum.

2023: Voted in favor of H.R. 2 to reduce Asylum Fraud
Rep. Ogles voted in favor of H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, introduced by Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.). The legislation would significantly reduce asylum fraud by strengthening the credible fear standard to ensure that only those who are more than likely to be awarded asylum by an immigration judge are allowed to continue with the asylum process. Further, it would prohibit individuals who cross the border illegally from claiming asylum and prevent asylum seekers from receiving a work permit for one year after entry.

Rep. Ogles co-sponsored the SAFER at the Border Act (H.R. 4234) to amnesty dangerous illegal aliens.

The Safeguarding Americans From Extremist Risk (SAFER) at the Border Act (by Nick Langworthy, R-FL) would prohibit the granting of parole (a form of amnesty) to dangerous illegal aliens, including those on criminal or terrorism watchlists. 

The Laken Riley Act (by Katie Britt, R-AL) included a provision giving legal standing to states to sue the federal government if it abuses its authority by giving parole (a form of amnesty) to classes of inadmissible aliens instead of on a case by case basis. (The bill passed the Senate 64-35 and passed the House 263-156.)

The FY 2025 Budget Resolution (by Jodey Arrington, R-TX) prevents illegal aliens and other temporary noncitizens (DACA and TPS recipients, parolees, asylees, et al.) from accessing certain federally-funded benefits and imposes a 5% tax on all remittances to foreign countries. (The legislation passed the House 215-214).

The SAVE Act (by Chip Roy, R-TX) would require states to verify the citizenship status of individuals registering to vote in federal elections and to remove non-citizens currently on voter rolls. (The bill passed the House 220-208 and proceeds to the Senate for consideration).

Rep. Ogles sponsored H.R. 779, the No Social Security for Illegal Aliens Act of 2023, introduced by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.). The legislation would prohibit illegal aliens from accessing Social Security for work they did while in the United States without Employment Authorization Documents.

Rep. Ogles sponsored H.R. 149, the Protecting Our Democracy by Preventing Foreign Citizens from Voting Act, introduced by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.). The legislation would block all federal funds to states and localities that allow illegal aliens to vote in elections.

Rep. Ogles voted in favor of H.J. Res. 24, introduced by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.). The joint resolution would officially disapprove the the District of Columbia's Council amendment that allows illegal aliens to vote in local elections. The resolution passed the House 260-162.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (by Jodey Arrington, R-TX) provides $170 billion for immigration enforcement, including border wall construction and additional agents. (The bill passed the Senate 51-50 and later passed the House 218-214).

The FY 2025 Budget Resolution (by Jodey Arrington, R-TX) provides $70 billion for border security efforts, including $46.5 for the border wall. (The legislation passed the House 215-214).

The Senate-amended FY 2025 Budget Resolution (by Jodey Arrington, R-TX) provides between $175 - 200 billion for immigration enforcement, including border wall construction and additional agents. (The resolution passed the House 216-214 and the Senate 51-48).

The Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act (by Juan Ciscomani, R-AZ) makes it a criminal offense to evade CBP or other authorities assisting CBP using a motor vehicle within 100 miles of the border. Those convicted, and who are unlawfully present, are permanently ineligible for legal status, including asylum. (The bill passed 264-155 and will be considered by the Senate.)

The Border Safety and Security Act of 2025 (by Chip Roy, R-TX) would allow the Secretary of Homeland Security to suspend the entry of inadmissible aliens at the border if needed to obtain operational control of the border. In addition, the Secretary would be required to suspend the entry of inadmissible aliens during any period in which the Secretary cannot detain asylum seeking illegal aliens or place them into a program similar to the Migration Protection Protocols.

The FY 2025 Budget Resolution (by Jodey Arrington, R-TX) is the first step towards passing the House proposal to provide $200 billion for immigration enforcement, including border wall construction and additional agents. (The resolution passed the House 217-215, setting up a conference with the Senate).

2024: Co-sponsored H.R. 7739 to apply the MPP to Canada
Rep. Ogles co-sponsored H.R. 7739, the Remain in Canada Act, introduced by Rep. Brian Babin (R-Tex.).  This legislation would establish an MPP program for Canada, preventing aliens from entering illegally from Canada and being released.

This legislation would secure the U.S. - Mexico border by codifying several of former President Trump's Executive Orders, including Executive Order 13767 to end catch-and-release.

Rep. Ogles sponsored H.R. 597, the Stop the Cartels Act, introduced by Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio). The legislation would overhaul the Flores Settlement Agreement closing a major border security loophole.

The legislation would require DHS to restart border wall construction that has been authorized for and paid for by Congress and strengthen the Secure Fence Act of 2006 by requiring physical barriers along 900 miles of border. The legislation also provides retention bonuses for Border Patrol agents and defunds efforts to resettle illegal border crossers across the country.

The Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act (by Barry Moore, AL) would make aliens deportable from and inadmissible to the United States if they have a DUI/DWI conviction. The legislation will be considered by the Senate. (The bill passed 246-160 and will be considered by the Senate.)

The Sanctuary Penalty and Public Protection Act of 2025 (by Chip Roy, R-TX) would prevent any federal funding being expended or allocated to sanctuary jurisdictions.  The legislation would also require DHS to create a public online database of sanctuary cities and states.

The District of Columbia Federal Immigration Compliance Act (by Clay Higgins, R-LA) would require Washington, D.C. to share immigration status with federal authorities and to comply with ICE immigration detainers. (The legislation passed 224-194.)

Sarah's Law (by Randy Feenstra, R-IA) requires the detention of aliens who have been charged with a crime that resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of another person.  The legislation also calls for DHS to notify the victim/victim's family of relevant immigration and criminal history of the accused.

(The bill passed 274-145 and has not yet been considered by the Senate.)

Rep. Ogles voted in favor of H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, introduced by Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.). The legislation would require most employers to use E-Verify within two years to ensure that new hires are authorized to work in the United States. The legislation provides additional time for agricultural employers to comply. The bill would also make overstaying a visa a felony crime and allow Unaccompanied Alien Children from noncontiguous countries to be returned to their home countries.
